Keke Palmer is revealing the secret to juggling her booming career with parenting a toddler.
Palmer, 32, spoke exclusively with PEOPLE at the L.A. premiere of her new Peacock series, The ‘Burbs, based on the 1989 dark comedy of the same name. During the conversation on Feb. 5, the actress, singer and former TV host revealed how she currently manages a multitude of high-profile projects while raising her 2-year-old son, Leodis "Leo" Andrellton, whom she shares with ex Darius Jackson.
“There actually are three of me,” Palmer joked while speaking to PEOPLE.
“It’s a lot,” she continued. “I feel like after [having] my son I’ve become even more intentional with what I choose to do, how I choose to spare my time. I love everything that I do, but I think [I’m] always conscious to have a good team, to make sure that I can handle it all, and be able to organize it, 'cause it is a lot, but I do love it.”

Palmer said that watching her son grow each day and reach new milestones has helped inform how she approaches her entire life.
"The process of seeing him grow from being a little baby that didn't speak to having words, opinions and a personality is incredible,” she told PEOPLE. “He's teaching me most importantly, I think, just how to relax and how to live, you know what I mean?"
Palmer continued, "Like when you see your kid, it really is a mirror to you with your own life, but you're able to give them … what you need to give to yourself. So it's been a real blessing.”
“My son is everything to me, you know?” she added.

The actress revealed that being a mom in real life made her even more excited to take on her role in The ‘Burbs, in which she plays a woman named Samira who has recently given birth.
“It was actually kind of cathartic, because, well, the things that Samira was going through, even with her relationship and how that was impacted by having a child, and then postpartum and how, you know, you're trying to process things [while also being] so porous because you just [had] this human. I really related to a lot of that — and the horror behind it,” she explained.
The new show, which blends comedy and horror elements, follows a young couple who move back to the husband’s childhood home, only to find out that things may not be what they appear. Tom Hanks starred in the original film version — which Palmer said made her even more thrilled for the project.
“I’m a huge Tom Hanks fan, even though I was not that familiar with this film of his, the fact that I even got an opportunity to be considered for something like this was exciting … [and] I was excited to finally play a mom on TV after having been a mom,” she said.
The ‘Burbs is currently streaming on Peacock.
